Jules says:
So… I went through a really bad breakup. Long story short the guy was like evil, BUT, his mom is a saint.
Bro’s birthday has long passed and no I did not text him! I am anti send-that-text! That was a door I did not want to reopen. This is kind of a dumb question but should I still wish his MOM a happy birthday?? I just got the calendar alert on my phone that it’s tomorrow. We weren’t really close or anything, but she was always really nice and even sent me a really sweet gift for my birthday months after the breakup.
Anyway I feel bad NOT sending her a birthday text yknow? But is that like, opening that door again? I want nothing to do with the guy, just his mom (non-sexual). Help!!
Dear Jules,
Well, this is quite the predicament, huh?
I’m proud of you for not sending that burthday text! It sounds like you know what you want, and it’s definitely not him (and we love that).
But you do want his mom. (Not in a sexual way, or so you say.)
If the only intention you have is purely to wish her a happy birthday, then do it! Why not? It’s a quick thing to do, it’s completely painless, and it’ll (probably) make her day. And, considering she sent you a really nice birthday gift after you and her son broke up? You should definitely send that text!
Worst case scenario? She tells her son you reached out. And then what? He gets mad that you’re a sweetheart?
Seems like a pretty low-risk situation. So, in traditional Winky Peach fashion, I say: sent the text!
xoxo,
The Winky Peach
